Social Media Predicts #NFL Week 4 Games

I am not going to lie, but last weekend may have been one of the more interesting awful weeks of NFL football in the history of the league. While it is estimated that their call at the end of Monday Night Football impacted bets by up to $150M, they also wreaked havoc on my weekly picks using social media buzz. With all the crazy finishes, we ended the week with a 6-10 mark which dropped the season tally to 23-25.

If you are new to this series of picks, you are probably wondering what I am rambling on about in terms of social media picks of NFL games. A 10,000 foot overview is that I compile the buzz surrounding each team in the social media space over a two week period using Lithium social media monitoring and dump it into some formulas to assign a score which decides the winners. You can read more about it here. Each week we pit those social media picks against a friend of mine who picks using their own methods. The person with the best overall record gets $100 donated to a charity of their choice. This week we’ve got Dave Folkens giving his picks. So while Dave says he can pick anything, he’ll have to do better than 9-7 to take over the lead. Here’s a video breakdown of the week’s picks.
