A few weeks back, I was having a conversation with my friend Geoff Livingston in the comments of a blog post. One thing led to another and he recommended Honest Signals from Alex (Sandy) Pentland.
The book itself is a very smart read that took me out of my comfort zone of sorts. Instead of talking business, marketing or social, the book focused on an area that I have no background in – science.
Throughout the research report, Pentland takes you through a number of studies and how her team was able to use computers and sensors to accurately predict the tells of humans. Kind of scary, but really cool stuff – my full review is below:

I’m glad you read this. I found the science of sociology here to be much more compelling than most of the curent influence theories we’re receiving online today.
@geoffliving TY sir and good morning
@kamichat Thanks!
@jeffespo Good morning, Jeff!
@geoffliving hope things all good in DC, er, Vegas is it?
@jeffespo In Cali right now. Heading to Toronto in 8 hours.
@geoffliving well enjoy 🙂 tell the tall lady hello and avoid the sheep herder
geoffliving I think it was the best recommendation I have received in a while so thanks again. There were some things that I had to re-read but think she did an awesome job of making it plain speak for non-science minded folks. The research can be applied universally and is quite telling about our online personas… Only spot that I couldn’t get through was the appendix, really got me lost on some of the formulas.
@namnum it is a good read.
@jeffespo I’m looking forward to it, thanks for posting your review.
@namnum cool! cc @jeffespo
