As part of my quest to read 26 books this year, I decided to look at all kinds of things to thumb my way through. For my third book of the year, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and read a book that challenged me – Douglas Rushkoff’s Life Inc.
When I read guest posts on TIME, CNN and Mashable from Rushkoff, I decided to give a book on economics and sociology a read. While the book was tough to get into due to my knowledge on the topic matter, I really enjoyed the challenge once I got in the groove. I would recommend you give it a read if you are looking for a challenge or are into the subject matter. It’s not an easy read or quick page turner, so if you are looking for that, pass on this one.
1st: Big props for rockin’ the Monday Night Football swag.
2nd: Big props to reading 26 books in a year. 1 every 2 weeks is no joke.
3rd: Anything economic, especially corporations, is fascinating to me. I might give this a search on the Kindle and see what happens.
Thanks for taking the time to share!
@JMattHicks Man I am trying for it and think that if I keep the clip up, I will wind up with 36 overall. Agressive, yes, but doable.
Dude that shirt is a dinosaur and is from ESPN’s Sunday Night Football. Do you like the kindle? I have one and dig it, but at the same time love the feel of paper on my hands.
@jeffespo Best of luck to you bro. You may have just inspired me to dive into some literature…it’s been a few months since I’ve really jumped into any good reading.
AH, SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL?! OLD SCHOOL MAN! GOTTA LOVE IT! Ha ha Sweet.
And I actually use the Kindle App, I didn’t mean to be misleading. But I LOVE the app on my iPhone; it makes train rides to work much more enjoyable as well as just casual reading around the house. Honestly, I don’t see the point of the Kindle if you have an iPhone/iPad…but I’ve never used an actual Kindle before so I won’t try to make claims I’m not totally educated on.
And you’re right man, there’s nothing like the smell of a new book or crisp pages. It’s like a baseball glove…it’s not a “good smell” like cologne or anything, but it’s one of my favorite smells.
/weird rant about smells lol
@JMattHicks I don’t judge bro 😉 But it is really important to keep reading. I am mixing in non business books to keep my mind fresh and avoiding burn out.
