Five for Friday 01.14.11

You have to love weeks that have a day off somewhere in the middle, let’s call it Wednesday. Even though it wasn’t a full-fledged vacation, a snow day with some work from home was just as good as a off-day. Funny thing about the snow on Wednesday was that 49 of the 50 states had some snow fall, the lone exception was Florida. This weekend is going to make for some awesome football with the AFC having two inter-divisional rivalry game rematches where the four teams involved split the season series with their opponent. Here is hoping that the Ravens can make it two wins over the Steelers at Heinz Field. How about you any big weekend plans? Is your team still alive and well in the playoffs? If so as long as they aren’t from Pittsburgh, I will wish you luck. Enjoy this week’s edition of Five for Friday and catch you next week.

WTF is Social Business – While this isn’t the title of the article, it is what my friend Janet Aronica tweeted out so I am going with it. Do you know what social business is? If you think you do, you may or may not, so I advise peeping out Janet’s article on oneforty.

27 ½ ways how to become a social media expert rockstar ninja in 2011 – OK now I have to be honest here. At first I thought  that this was just another blowhard post where someone gives workarounds for the hard work that goes into social media. Boy was I wrong; Wayne Sutton kills it and had me rolling around laughing at this.

Gurus: Do You Love Them or Hate Them? – If you have read this blog before, you know that the word guru makes me cringe. So you know where I stand, but who would have known that small business owners think the same way.
Gurus Suck

Etsy – The Latest Brand to Disappoint – Not sure if you have heard yet, but Etsy has a PR problem on their hands. You see one of their sellers sells greeting cards for awkward situations including getting raped, having a child with Down Syndrome and getting AIDS. Really classy and  to top it off, the company hasn’t commented on the situation.

Will Facebook Reign Supreme In 2011? History Says Maybe Not – Now none of us are going to know what social networks will be around in the next two months let alone the next two years. So this piece on Social Media Examiner offers an interesting look at to what Facebook’s future may hold.
