I talk to a lot of folks online and feel like most folks are friends in some way shape or form. However when I have met folks offline and in person these relationships have turned into great friendships with people who I may not have met two or three years ago without social channels.

It's good to have a healthy balance of both. If I'm going to be in an area where an online friend is at, it's great to meet up.
Sometimes people aren't at all what you expect them to be in person though, simply because they have an easier time communicating their thoughts in a text based medium.
Those are some very true points Tommy. IRL meetings are not always positive, but it goes to show you that some folks simply hide behind the keyboard to avoid personal interaction.
