Five for Friday 5.21

This was one of those weeks that was long and felt like Friday would never come. It was a good one though as I got to chat with the folks at the Globe for their Globe 100 Breakfast (Vistaprint was #3), got to see my bud Kate for the second week in a row, my boss Jason had his baby and worked on a ton of projects that I think will be pretty cool (I’ll write about one of them in a few weeks). The weather has been dreadful in Boston, but it’s Friday and the wifey is graduating from Law school on Sunday so it’s going to be an awesome weekend. So with out further blabbing, here is this week’s edition of Five for Friday.

Defending the PR profession: a call to action from the collective industry – This post was written by a pair of PR gents that I have met in person, Keith Trivitt and PR Cog, and hits something that we are all looking for – a little respect. The post is a call out to all those who practice flackery to arms about doing a little PR and reputation management for our industry.

The Evolving Role Of Community And Social Media Managers – Now do you know the difference of these two roles? It’s something that I often wonder if there is a line between the two. This post helps clean it up some.

Mark Zuckerberg Did Not Take Your Privacy – Let me just say that any story that uses untrustworthy sex addict as the closing phrase for your opening graph, immediately draws me in. Now while I think Facebook is shady as hell in what they do and Zuckerberg is an arrogant ass, he has created a great site that has limitless potential. B.L. Ochman highlights some of these potentials in this article.

How Ramon De Leon of Domino’s engages in nonstop brand conversations – This is a really cool story about Ramon from Dominos in Chicago. Now while Dominos as a whole has been bashed in SM circles, Ramon does some pretty outstanding things. Check out the post and the great video below.

How Domino’s Engages in the Nonstop Online Conversation About Their Brand — presented by Ramon De Leon from GasPedal on Vimeo.

Report: Top 20 Brands on Twitter – April 2010 – This is another great buzz/trend report from Brian Solis. Now while the list might not seem much to you all at first, it is something that I look at as a long-term goal to achieve for Vistaprint.
