Pleased to Meat You

Jeff BCBefore you say it, I know and for that matter it is not a typo. I meant to write meat in the headline. Earlier today, I read an interesting article in What They Think? and the Washington Post, on a new take on a staple of business and formal meetings – the business card.

Now there are all kinds of catchy takes on the traditional business card, from die-cut corners and raised text to rubber bands (examples) and Lego’s awesome Legoman business cards. All are fine and within reason, and I could see being passed out, the one question is would you hand out an edible business card?

If you think that is unbelieveable, think again as Meat Cards has rolled out a line of business cards printed on beef jerkey. I am all for dried meats, when I am camping or looking for a good snack, but this is just bizarre.

I can just see the meeting now and passing cards after lunch, “Joe here’s my card feel free to contact me” only to the response of Joe responding “Jeff here’s my card, please copy my email address down before taking a bite.”

The cards can also be polarizing to an extent, imagine meeting with an unsuspecting PETA sympathizer. Oh the humanity.

I can’t see anyone outside of the butcher industry, or someone looking for true shock value shelling out some greenbacks for these cards. Would you buy ’em?
