Have we forgotten the meaning of satire?

A lot has been made of the recent SNL skit over the weekend where Fred Armisen portrayed President Obama and went over his accomplishments in his first year in the Oval Office. I first heard of the episode on Sunday when my fiance was saying how funny it was. After watching it last night, I completely agreed and found it hilarious. The only thing that shocked me was that it came from the typically liberal SNL.

I seem to remember everyone getting a kick of SNL’s skits as recently as a year ago when Sarah Palin was being portrayed by Tina Fey, however it appears that everyone’s panties are in a knot about this skit. According to an article I read on Mashable earlier today, there are some folks calling for fact checking & defending the Commander in Chief. My question to this is have we forgotten that shows like SNL are meant to make us laugh?

Seriously folks, we need to be able to laugh. The prez is a big boy and can handle the criticism, can’t he?
