Five for Friday: Labor Day Edition

Man where the hell did this summer go? Seriously one minute it was halleluiah here comes the warmth then bam, 40 minutes to go to blocks behind U-hauls bringing college kids back into Boston. Unfortunately that also means winter is on its way. Oh well change is good. I also had a great call on Thursday with Jane Hiscock, Rachel Happe, Sarah Mahoney and Heather Strout for the FutureM on community management. If you are in the Boston area and want to peep it out check

out the sign up for the event here. Have a great Labor Day weekend and I’ll catch you on Tuesday.

South Carolina woman scammed thinking she bought iPad – but turned out to be block of wood – OK well I though the Carolinas could never be out done by this Miss America gem, but what more can you say about this? I feel like we are in a really bad episode of the Weekend Update on this one.

6 allies every corporate social media effort needs to succeed – If you do social media for your company, chances are that you have hit a brick wall or two looking to expand your program. To avoid this, you have probably made some allies that helped you push through what you were looking to do or gain budget from. If you have not experienced this you will, so bookmark this post on useful allies to look for.

MLB Stadiums Ranked By Number of Check Ins – This is just a nice mix of America’s game with social media. One thing that surprised me was that 98-year old Wrigley Field ranked higher than both New York Stadiums. Where does your team’s home rank?

Does your org have a Facebook Page comment escalation flow-chart? – In this post John Haydon poses a great question that many companies should ask themselves. I know we do at Vistaprint… do you?

6 Reasons NOT to Create a Facebook Fan Page – Well now here is a breath of fresh air. With everyone and their mother saying you need a Facebook page, Nichole Kelly offers reasons not to.

I sometimes wish I hadn’t made my Facebook page. Another thing to maintain. BUT it turns out to be worth it. The connections are fewer, but deeper.
