Branding Snafu – Chubby Cream Scream

While walking around the Stop and Shop in Allston, Mass., I came across this lovely sugary drink. The name just stands out as off – Chubby Cream Scream. Now I am not a brand or marketing master, but seriously the name is a layup for a five year old. I guess it is why the soda only costs 50 cents.

Aside from the name being awful, do you really want your kid drinking a beverage that’s mascot is a fat kid? Let alone one that tastes like cleaning supplies?

Chubby Cream Scream, Worst Brand

What do you think of the brand? What does it say to you?

I welcome the fifth-grade humor.

rotflmao… Okay I really don't know what to say that you didn't say. As a mom of 2 boys (3 and 8) I would NOT buy that and would have probably thought the same thing. I personally do not give my kids soda and i really don't understand why any parents do. Now I do let my 8 yr ols have a SIP on occasion but products like this in general are unnecessary.

Now to the actual topic at hand, I think using a fat kid on ANYTHING that is meant for children is an extremely poor choice. As if there are not enough issues in the world with over weight kids, lets advertise it as well.

As for the insinuation on the name and graphic, you cracked me up lol I completely needed that laugh this morning! I do see your point!
