An open letter to Google and G+

Dear Google,

You started off so very nice with Google Plus.

It was clean, had a lot of white space and then I could share what I wanted with who I wanted and see information from who I wanted. It was lust that I was hoping would turn into love. Maybe not as big as my man-crush on Twitter, but at least a decent platform that could supplant Facebook, which I am not a giant fan of. Unfortunately your Circles system has turned me off on your whole network. You see each day I am getting between 6-10 notifications that I have been added to a new circle. The sad part is that 99% of these are from people in India. While I may interact with Mr. Shri on Twitter every now and then, I would not call that a broad network in the country. All of these additions are a pain in the ass as I have to individually go into each one to block the person and the emails are annoying.I don’t have this problem with either Facebook or Twitter. And while both of these networks have their problems, getting bombarded with people adding me to their circles from India is not one of them. Please fix this or your new network will be nothing more than a “Me Too” property.OK, thanks, bye.Jeff

PS – I am sure that this dude would have had that problem fixed if he were on your product team.

Lots of good points here Jeff. I found it a big help when I turned off all email notifications. That said, there are a lot of randoms adding me to circles, and I understand how annoying that is. Hopefully google can fix this issue before it goes public.

@MattLaCasse I also get annoyed at the red box at the top that is always filled. Oh well hopefully it is just growing pains. I just wonder how long it will be until we start seeing some scams on it.
